At the recent Eastside Winterfest Volunteer Appreciation Night, EYSA President Don Story presents the 2007 EYSA Ron Bulmer Long Service Award to Mary and Mike Grevers in recognition of both Mike and Mary's many years of outstanding service and dedication to the Eastside Youth Soccer Association.
Phil Edington served with distinction as the EYSA Equipment Manager from November 1999 until November 2005. He brought order to, and devised a complete system for the ordering, distribution and collection of soccer equipment at Eastside, including the establishment of proper financial records. He was also responsible for setting up our current equipment storage facility at Weaver Park. Phil was known for his strong organizational skills, his patience, his wonderful smile, and his overriding concern that Eastside players have the best equipment that could be provided. When he retired from the position of Equipment Manager, he turned over to his successor a very well-managed area which showed the care that had been given by a very capable, dedicated and effective volunteer.

The Ron Bulmer Long Service Award was created to honour its namesake and all those who continuously give to Eastside for the betterment of our kids. They are Eastside volunteers who give of their time, energy, and knowledge for many years. Ron volunteered for years - coaching, organizing, bingos and as a board member.
This year's recipient follows in Ron's footsteps. She has three children and has been active in the zone since the oldest was in U12 - 8 years or so. Her contributions have been many and varied:
The one constant that seemed to come up again and again from many different people, was that no matter what she was doing - she was doing it with the best interests of the players at heart. I cannot image a greater compliment!
In volunteering for so many jobs over so many years, it is staggering to add up the number of our players that benefited from her dedication.
As a zone, we cannot function without dedicated volunteers. We all try to do our part to lighten the load and Eastside appreciates all its volunteers, no matter what or how much you do. There are, however, a small number that go above and beyond what is typical. The Ron Bulmer Long Service Award honours these volunteers.
To this year's recipient, Charlene Baron, Eastside says THANK YOU! We are proud you are part of our team.
Congratulations and All the Best, Charlene - may your coffee always be hot!!

Bev served as the Coordinator for the Under 18 Girls group for two years, and also served on the Eastside Board of Directors as the Girls' Coordinators’ representative. Bev's unwavering commitment to youth soccer has also been demonstrated by her constant willingness to help out wherever she saw a need, from working at registration to arranging for food for 40 hungry coaches at our fall evaluations.
