Eastside Youth Soccer Association welcomes all interested parents and volunteers to join our volunteer coaching and team management staff. At Eastside we try to maintain the highest standards for our coaching and team management staff. We endeavor to provide all of the youth with the best possible experience playing soccer. Our coaches are the "face" of Eastside for our players, parents, referees, and others that see us in action.
Everyone that is involved in managing a team (coaches, assistant coaches and managers) are expected to display the utmost integrity, sportsmanship, and respect for players, parents, referees, and everyone with whom they come into contact. Everyone on the team management must also provide Eastside with a police record check that includes the vulnerable sector search component.
Eastside coaches must submit a Coaching Application Form at the begining of each season outlining their Coaching Philosophy and goals for the season in various areas. (Download the Eastside Coaching Application here).
All Eastside coaches are automatically enrolled in Eastside Coach Training offered during every season. This training is provided by the Eastside Technical Director, Tom LaPointe. Tom has over 20 years of coaching experience and holds a National B licence. Monthly clinics are held for Eastside coaches. Monthly clinics are available for all coaches, and Eastside encourages all of our coaches to attend these training sessions, regardless of your past experience or training. These sessions are important for all of our coaches to stay up to date with the latest trends and issues in Eastside.
In addition to the Eastside Coach Training, many of our coaches choose to pursue certification through the National Coach Certification Program ("NCCP"). Coaching a team beyond the club level, (i.e. Provinicial or National competitions) requires at least some level of certification. Eastside pays for the cost of any of our coaches to attend an NCCP certification course up to the Community Coach Senior level of certification. These certification courses typically run for a weekend, and they are a curriculum based certification, which means that there is no exam at the end. Attending the course gives you the certification.
All of our coaches in Eastside Soccer are volunteer coaches. As with most sports, we rely on volunteers and parents to full the coaching roles needed to provide leadership for our teams. Eastside encourages all of our coaches to develop their skills and experience to the best of their interest and ability.
